Crazy

So I promised to post more, and well as you can see that hasn't happened.  The last weeks have been pretty stressful between work and my not work life.

First off, my dad had a heart attack.  He's doing well and is even back at work on light duty.  I was scared out of my mind.  Totally didn't feel like doing anything crafty.

I then was at a paranormal conference with my boyfriend.  We had a blast.  Got to meet cast members from Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, and Haunted Collector.   Sad that Josh Gates had to cancel due to a bad run in with Poison Ivy though.

At work, our director retired 3 months early and so we are currently trying our best to run the place without one until one is hired.  I've been super busy and things with a co-worker were ify.  But the last part has been worked out, so that's okay.

And finally my boyfriend is having surgery this Friday and so that's been weighing on my mind.  It's not a serious procedure, but anytime someone goes under, it's a little nerve racking.

With all that's going on right, my creative juices just aren't flowing like I hope.  I did make a super cute Halloween candy dish that I need to post and I am waiting for my 150 piece set of Prismacolor pencils to arrive.  I'm hoping the mojo comes back and whacks me along side the head.

Active blog...not here :p

I was looking at trying to get on some design teams, but they all say must have active blog.  Right now, I don't really feel I have a need for an active blog.  I post when  I have something to post and that's how I roll.

But I do want to be a little better in posting.  I used to do this all the time, but I don't know, I just fell off the bandwagon so to speak.  I am going to try and post something every other day whether it be something crafty or just an update on how things are going.

So here's my first post.  I recently got a Cutterpillar Pro paper trimmer.  Still getting used to it as it is a lot different from my Making Memories cutter I had been using.

Also, I purchased 5 or 6 packs of the Specturm Noir markers from Crafters Companion.  I got Turquoises, purples, reds, blues, greens, pinks, and browns.  So, I guess that means I got 7 packs.  I hope to get them all as they are a great fill in for my Prismacolor Markers.

Just so you know, I'm playing around with inLinkz.  So I am going to try and post the product pics at the end of this post.

I plan on posting some things shortly.  I have made several cards in the last couple of days and am working on a project that I am debating on using it for a design team entry.  I will post that when I decide what I'm doing. :P

Guess that's it for now.  I will be out of town most of this coming weekend, so I don't know how much I'll get posted then.  I'm going to a paranormal convention and get to meet people from Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth.  I am totally pumped!!

Heather

Here is my take on the challenge that the focus group over at cropchocolate.  The them was Family Tree.

These two pictures are my grandma and grandpa at their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries.  I wanted to put the wedding picture in there as well, but I couldn't find my copy, so there you go.

Except the following:

I am working on a mini album!  I was a little nervous starting out as I have never made one before.  This is a paper bag album and is Halloween themed.  The paper I am using is mostly October 31st by FancyPants and Chillingsworth Manor from Echo Park both of which I got at cropchocolate, com.  I will be posting pics of it when completed.  Hopefully today if I get myself in gear.

Also, I have been making some cards, so I have to get pictures of those up here as well.

That's it for now, but be on the look out for my mini and the cards.

Sunday, April 29, 2012

So here is a card I made for challenge number 12 over at CropChocolate.com.  For this challenge we has to have handmade flowers on the project.  These flowers came off the Flower Shoppe cartridge.  I just got this cartridge as couple of weeks ago for my birthday and this is the the first project I made with it.

This card was from the focus group challenge also at CropChocolate.com.  The challenge was to use one of the Design Team's project for inspiration.  I made this easel card, inspired by this post:  http://blog.cropchocolate.com/2011/12/easel-card-by-corriew.html  Didn't turn out the greatest, but for a first time doing this type of card I can't complain all that much!

Oh and I have an exciting announcement......

I AM GETTING A CAMEO!!

That's right, according to UPS tracking it should be here on Thursday so I can play with it on National Scrapbooking Day!  So excited!

Better get my last load of laundry out of the dryer and then get ready for another week.

Stay Crafty,
Heather

Okay, so it's been a while.  I am so horrible about updating.  I have a couple of things to post, which I hope to do tomorrow.

But I got some new goodies today and have to tell you about them.

I got a photo shadowbox tray by 7gypsies.  I have wanted one for a while because I have seen some really cool stuff done with them.  Can't wait to give it a try.

Next I got some 3-D Zots.  Never used the product before, but I have heard good things about them.  Figured I'd give them a shot.

I got some Graphic45 stuff.  A 12x12 paper pad called The Old Curiosity Shoppe and a very neat little altered art box.  I was just working in it, and it will probably take a while to complete.  But be on the look out for it!

Like I said hope to have some stuff posted tomorrow and I will try to update a little more often.

Mini Altered Composition Notebook

I love doing the regular size composition notebooks, but doing the minis are just as fun. I get my minis from the dollar store where they are 3 for a dollar.

These are great to put in purses or what not so you always have paper on hand for those notes, phone numbers, etc.

Supplies:
Yellow and Pink cardstock from Michaels
Stamp from Jillibean Soup
Ribbon from Walmart
Dot stamp from Hero Arts
Distress Ink by Ranger (in Concord Grape)

Always and Forever- Altered composition notebook

I love altering composition notebooks. I have given a couple as gifts and hopefully will do more. But here are two that I have completed that I still have. This post is probably way image heavy, but I wanted to put these two together.

So here's the first one:

This one is made from the Black Current Paper stack from DCWV. I love the colors and how the thistle stickles I have matched the purple color perfectly.

Here is a side view so you can see the dimension of the flower. It is ceramic I believe, and went wonderfully with the color scheme of this. I got it at Michaels in a two pack as it was on clearance for 2 dollars. (Have a set that is pink as well)

Another side shot to show off the butterfly and the flower.

And this is a shot of the wording on the journal. And you can see how well the stickles match on the butterfly as well. (I should have taken a better picture of the butterfly, but oh well.)

This is a journal I made for myself. After looking at it, I think you'll see why.

I have always had problems with my self-esteem. So I made this to remind myself to believe in me and to do the best I care no matter what is happening in my life. Thus the believe title and the tag that says bloom where you're planted.

Close up of the tags. (Sorry this is so blurry. As I may have mentioned before, I don't have the best camera.) These were made with the Making Memories Tag Maker. I had this for several years but never used it. (More cause I couldn't figure the darn thing out.) But I think these turned out pretty well. :)

A better picture of the bloom tag.

A close up of the believe title and flowers. Most of the flowers were cream/white and had been colored with my primsacolor markers.

Supplies (as I remember them):

Always and Forever Journal:
Black Current by DCWV
Ceramic rose from Michaels
Butterfly and Title from Gypsy Wanderings
Lace from Walmart
Thistle color stickles by Ranger

Believe Journal:
Tags made with Tag Maker by Making Memories
Bloom where you're planted stamp from Walmart
Flower stamp from Walmart
Believe title by Making Memories
Square brads from Walmart
Most flowers are Hero Arts, not sure about others
Frame by Making Memories
Not sure of the paper line...if you recognize it please let me know. :)

Another post today...

I know I go weeks without posting and then BAM! Three in one day.

I am getting ready for a blog hop I am going to be part of (my first one!) and so I was practicing to get myself all ready for this weekend when I actually work on the project.

Here's the card that I made:

The blog hop is going to be focusing on borders and thus I am trying to learn new ways to add fun borders to my cards. I didn't think it was too shabby. My faux stitching could use a little work, but I'm the type that can't draw a straight line with a ruler :)

Blog Hop next weekend! Please stop by and say hi! :)

Configuration box

I just finished my first Tim Holtz configuration box. I did a shabby chic I guess. Most of the miniatures in it came from something I love in my life. There are books, a cat in a paper bag, baking items and knitting supplies. Wish I could have found something scrappy to put into it, but the site I got the miniatures from didn't have anything like that.

So here it is:

Sorry that it isn't the greatest picture. It's the only one I have right now. I hope to get more up, but my camera is pretty crappy when it comes to close up stuff.

Crop Chocolate Focus Group Challenge

This card was made for the CC focus group challenge for March.

We were to use this image as inspiration. :)

And this is what I came up with:

The card base is dark blue cardstock
The 3 grungy looking papers are from A beautiful life by MME
The ribbon is Stella and Rose decorative trim by MME
The sun was from Gypsy Wanderings (pre-loaded on gypsy)
The stamp was from a set picked up at Big Lots.
Yellow Stickles by Ranger on the sun.
